Del’s Merkin Crab Fly Tying Video Instructions

Del Merkin Permit Crab Fly Tying PatternThe Del’s Merkin Crab (developed by Del Brown) is the most widely used saltwater crab pattern for Permit and Bonefish.  The Del’s Merkin Crab was developed to be a cutting edge Permit Crab Pattern (at least at the time it was cutting edge).  The Merkin Crab continues to be the standard that all new crab patterns are based off of.  The wide profile body is a perfect match to the natural profile of a crab.  Today the traditional yarn body is swapped for EP Fibers, which are more life like and do not hold water when the fly is casted.  The Del Merkin Crab is a must have in any saltwater fly box!
