Foam Beetle

Foam Beetle Fly Tying Instructions

Believe it or not, beetles are serious trout food!  Beetles are clumsy insects and often fall into the water.  On the surface, beetles are helpless and easy prey for hungry trout.  During the heat of the summer months, beetles become very active and frequently find their way into the mouths of large trout.  Beetles come in all shapes, colors and sizes.  So there is no one way to tie one.  Most fisherman use Foam Beetles in sizes #12-18, but larger and smaller beetles do have their place in areas.  Beetles are very effective when fished close to the bank!
