Rusty Spinner Fly Tying Video Instructions
The Rusty Spinner is a classic dry fly. The Spinner is the last and most vulnerable stage of a mayfly. Once the mayflies have mated, they travel to the river to die. A spent spinner is a mayfly that has died and splayed out their wings on the surface of the water. This is a dinner bell for hungry trout. The trout know that a spent spinner is an easy meal and all trout make the best of it. The Rusty Spinner is not only tied in brown. It can be tied in black, tan, grey and green. The majority of spent spinners are a brownish color, that is why the Rusty is so popular. A great fly that has survived over the years!
