Carp Fishing Denver Report | March 27, 2012

Date: March 27, 2012
Flow: 38
Water Temperature: 57 Degrees
Flies: #08-12 San Juan Worm, #08-12 Woolly Bugger, 6mm Chartreuse Troutbead

Great day fishing with Jeremy today!  Carp are moving and getting active.  We saw some monsters today.  Some are beginning to cruise the flats.  Finally, spring is here.  Still mainly nymphing for them.  Using worms and eggs in the deeper holes.  We were able to throw at some cruising fish today, but the water got cloudier as the day went on and they got tough to pin down.  Jeremy was able to get this clean 19 pounder.  Beautiful fish, I was barely able to get in the net!  Check out the video below from today!

  1. I love the stuff you guys are putting up on your website. The bank camera, the net camera, the mew-sic, the little hints regarding where, when and what they’re eating. I’m a big fan. Keep it up.

I caught my first bluegill on a cane pole, worm and bobber in an Illinois farm pond in about 1958, and my first trout on a flyrod in about 1985. I’m addicted.

  2. Are you sight casting to these fish? Are you blind casting? Have you had success catching trout on the South Platte or at Wash Park?

    • We sight fish as much as possible, but nymph the deeper runs. There are some trout in the SP…but very few the farther you go north.
