Flats Boat Troubles

Many say that the best days of owning a boat are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.  After this weekend, I can totally relate (even though I do not own a boat).  My uncle has owned a boat in South Laguna Madre Texas for several years and every time we seem to use it, we have issues.  The first day went off without a hitch.  We were able to get a few hours of fishing in before thunderstorms chased us off the water.  Cousin Clayton was able to land a nice red and I just couldn’t keep the ladyfish from stealing my fly from redfish.  On the second day we where lucky to have not been stranded on a deserted redfish flat miles from home.  After thousands of dollars spent on a rebuilt outboard, we were left sitting at the boat ramp trying to fire the motor.  That was the nail in the coffin for our short trip!  Just part of owning a boat!  I brought the little camera along the first day and managed to get a few snapshots.  Still a great trip with family and friends, but just cut way too short.
