The Dream Stream is warming up! I cannot believe the weather this year. Today I was able to fish in a short sleeve shirt! We began the day on Spinney Reservoir. Things were a little slow. The reservoir appears to be a “green” color. I assume the lake may be turning over or something. We manages to get a few, but the fishing was nothing like last week. So we went to our back up plan, the upper Dream Stream!
The Dream is in great shape and no one was on the upper river. It fished well, no big fish really and no sign of any lake fish in the upper river. We were able to get quite a few fish in the 10-17 inch range, pretty normal for the upper river. The small browns are thick and healthy as always and happy to eat. Most of the fish are piled in the deeper runs and tailouts. The water is still low on the Dream Stream. Once it gets into the mid 200’s, things should really pick up.
Most of the fish were eating bugs. Black Beauties, Blood Midges, Pheasant Tails and Prince Nymphs were all great producers. I was able to get a few on a egg and a worm, but the fish are finally turned onto bugs. There was a brief midge hatch, but no BWOs or anything to really speak of. Cannot wait till the flows come up! Spinney looks almost full, so they have to let it out soon!
Jim claimed to have lost his shoes (of left his shoes) at Spinney! If anyone finds em…let us know!
