Slattery's OD Stimulator

Slattery's OD Stimulator is widely considered to the be the “Original” Stimulator. Developed by Jim Slattery, the “OD” stands for “Original Design” and is in some ways more effective than the commercially tied Kaufmann’s Stimulator. The OD Stimulator was originally tied in a much more “buggy” fashion. Meaning that the Elk Hair was not perfectly stacked, but more ruffled up. This was intended to imitate a fluttering stonefly and give the fly some implied movement. The OD Stimulator is one of my favorite patterns. Although it is not widely used on written about, it is very deadly on the river. The OD Stimulator can be tied in many different color variations. The Golden Stone and Salmonfly colors are considered the most popular. Give the OD Stimulator a try, they are a lot a fun to fish and you can SEE them!!
